SOUTHERN COMFORT: Missing part of our lives

Since I switched my cable TV provider, I was forced to stop regularly watching ANC because it is not included in my provider’s menu.

The reason I switched from Skycable (which is also owned by the Lopezes) to my recent provider is that it dropped my favorite sports channels (ESPN and FOX Sports) from the lowest plan I used to be paying for.

It also practically ‘robbed’ the NBA schedule from Solar Sports. And then proceeded to drop Solar Sports from the menu of Skycable.

(Is their case still pending after one and the other openly wage an acrimonious war of attrition in the media?)

And since my grandchildren learned to use the remote, poor me, I am now at their mercy during prime time news hour which is replaced by YouTube kid channel.

So for the last 21 months, I have little amount of viewing for prime time news hour.

Like, I am not missing something. Sort of.

But it is sad – ABS CBN off the air.

ABS-CBN has been part of the lives of more than at least 3 generations of our people over the last 35 years.
The sooner ABS-CBN and Congress resolve this, the better for the Filipino people.

Let this unfortunate epsiode in the history of Philippine press serve as a reminder and lesson in history.
